Consultation Event – 2nd July 3pm-6.30pm

The Education Authority together with the design team are undertaking pre-application community consultation activities in advance of a forthcoming submission of planning application for the refurbishment and extension of the existing school, with new staff car park and dedicated school drop-off within the school. The proposed development will also comprise the partial demolition of the existing school with the removal of 4 no. mobile classrooms. The extension will be single storey and include 4 no. new classrooms, a new multi-purpose Hall, upgraded heating systems and all ancillary development.

A public consultation event will be held at Corr’s Corner Hotel (315 Ballyclare Road, Newtownabbey, BT36 4TQ) on Thursday 2nd July 2026 between 3pm – 6:30pm. This event will provide information on the project and offer the opportunity to members of the public to provide feedback to the project design team. The event is a drop-in session, and can be attended at any time during the allocated hours.

All details of the proposal will be available on the dedicated project website at: https://junoplanning.com/public_consultations/thethompsonps. This website will be live and accessible from 2nd July 2026 until Friday 31st July 2026. The pre-application consultation period will begin on Thursday 2nd July 2026 and end on Friday 31st July 2026.   Members of the public must provide their feedback before Friday 31st July.

Please note that a planning application has not yet been submitted to the Council at this time, and this is expected to follow later this year.
