P4 Green Day!
Wow - what a busy day P4 have had celebrating our 'Green Day'! Everyone came to school dressed with green to remind them to 'wear green, be green'. We also tried to save as much energy as possible by not using electricity for our lights, computers or interactive whiteboards; we even turned off our heating! We had an outdoor maths lesson, searched for right angles in our outdoor play area and carried out our literacy using only books and pencils. Lots of children also brought reusable containers for break and lunch today in order to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
After break we had a visitor in school who helped us to make a bird box and then we attached it to a tree in the field ready for some new residents to move in. Just before lunch we had a visit to the P6 'Photography in Nature' exhibition in our outdoor learning room to see all their wonderful photographs on display!
After lunch we had story time, where one of our eco-committee members read us a story called 'My Green Day'. It gave us lots of ideas on how to help our environment!
To finish our day we were set a challenge to build a birdhouse using lego and to create something beautiful found in nature using inspiration from our morning activities.
Just look at the fun and smiles we had today!
